About Gudauri
Gudauri is Georgia's biggest ski resort, 120 km north of Tbilisi on the Georgian Military Highway, about two and a half hours by car. The lifts usually run from mid-December to mid-April; for the 2026/27 season the planned dates are 19 December to 18 April. There are 34.8 km of marked pistes on 17 lifts, and the snow is at its best in February and March. Late December can be thin, whatever the brochures say.
The resort has two parts. New Gudauri is the cluster of apartment blocks built around the gondola and the lower lifts; from most of them you walk to the lift in ski boots. Old Gudauri is the original village strung along the main road a couple of kilometres away, with hotels and guesthouses and a short drive or bus ride to the slopes. Each apartment page on bookhome.ge says which part the apartment is in and how far the nearest lift is, in metres.
Getting there: a marshrutka from Tbilisi's Didube station costs about 30 GEL a seat and leaves when it fills; a taxi from the city is around 400 GEL; a car booked ahead around 250 GEL. In winter the last stretch climbs the Jvari Pass, which the police close in storms and for avalanche work, usually for a few hours. Winter tyres are required, and chains are sold in Pasanauri on the way up.
What is there: two SPAR supermarkets and a Carrefour in New Gudauri, ski hire and ski schools by the lifts, restaurants and bars in the blocks at the bottom of the slopes, and a spa with a pool in one of the New Gudauri blocks. The shops are resort shops at resort prices; if you drive up from Tbilisi, do the week's shopping there.
Booking on bookhome.ge: each owner sets their own price, in GEL or USD, and the calendar on the apartment page is the one they book from. The price you see is the price you pay; there is no booking fee. Depending on the apartment you pay online by card or pay the owner directly, and the exact address comes with your booking confirmation.
